Moeiini Reilly

I am a Research Technologist with Georgia Tech Research Institute, where I work with the STEM@GTRI team designing, building, testing, facilitating, and teaching for a variety of STEM/STEAM focused initiatives across the State of Georgia. Primarily, I support the Rural Computer Science Initative as a curriculum developer, educator, and experiential education specialist. Before that I worked as a cybersecurity engineer managing complex infrastructural technologies across advanced manucaturing, avionics, higher education, and national security domains.

I am also a PhD Student studying Computer Science within the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech. I am advised by Dr. Josiah Hester and work with some great folks in the Ka Moamoa Lab.

I study and design technologies that make computing feel relational for learners. I use tangible interfaces and sensor-based interaction combined with crafting, making, and digital media creation as embodied cultural practices that make classrooms feel authentic. I am especially excited about the design of experiential (learning by doing) projects that cultivate identity within sociotechnical infrastructure.

My research intersects the fields of human-computer interaction, computing education, and sustainability. Broadly, I apply my research for sociotechnical integrations in agriculture, cybersecurity, robotics, environmental sensing, and design contexts. I draw inspiration from my colleagues and advisor at GT, the students and community members from my home in Central Georgia, as well as from the many kupuna (ancestors) and relations that I carry within me.
